Finksburg Multi-Car Accident Kills One Man on Route 91
Posted on Dec 05, 2013
Our Maryland car accident attorneys at Lewis & Tompkins have recently learned of one man who died in a November multi-vehicle accident while traveling on a Finksburg road.
According to Cindy Rivers, a spokeswoman for the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Kelly Murphy, 38, was taken by helicopter to the hospital to receive emergency medical care, but later died from his injuries.
The three-car collision happened on Route 91 around 5:30am on Friday, February 1, when David Stanner, 21, neglected to stop his Honda Civic at a stop sign. Stanner told police that he ran through the stop sign after losing control while traveling on a curve located on Old Gambler Road. A semi-truck traveling on Route 91, driven by John Rhoades, swerved to avoid Stanner’s Honda Civic, crossed over the yellow divider line, and collided with Murphy’s car.
News reports did not say whether or not the other two motorists involved were in the collision, but police authorities did say that both declined medical treatment at the scene.
Maryland State Police Reconstruction and Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit, along with the local Sheriff’s Office have conducted a detailed investigation into the fatal three-car crash, and any charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. Currently, authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the accident.
Our family of attorneys at Lewis & Tompkins, P.C. would like to extend our condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the family and loved ones of Mr. Murphy who are grieving this difficult loss.
