Will you be covered by automobile insurance if you have a car accident while driving with a suspended, revoked or expired license?

Typically, a driver involved in an automobile collision will still be covered under the insurance policy of the vehicle even though his/her license was suspended, revoked or expired at the time of the collision. The driver may receive penalties from law enforcement such as fines and a lengthening of the license suspension or revocation at the time of the collision. An insurance carrier may refuse to renew an insurance policy if the license is revoked at the time of renewal.
