Auto Accidents and Delayed Injuries

Lewis & Tompkins, P.C. Team

When traffic collisions happen, the consequences can be immediately evident for victims, in some cases. A broken bone or a severe laceration are usually pretty easy to identify. However, some injuries do not become apparent until a later point in time. In some instances, auto accident victims may discover an injury in the days, weeks, months or even years after the accident. This can be especially problematic for those who are thinking about taking legal action against a reckless driver who has turned their life on end.

There are a number of delayed injuries that victims may have to struggle with, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, whiplash, internal bleeding or a traumatic brain injury. A car accident victim may find later on that they suffered a back, neck or head injury in the collision. There are a number of symptoms to keep an eye out for, such as persistent headaches, back pain, stiffness in the neck, personality changes, numbness and abdominal pain.

If you were involved in a car crash at some point in the recent past and believe that you may have sustained an injury that you were unable to identify right after the accident, it is important to seek medical treatment and do everything you can to take care of yourself. You may also want to explore legal action if you did not file suit already and the accident happened because of someone’s negligent behavior. Sadly, more people will suffer from delayed injuries brought on by motor vehicle wrecks in the coming years, and these injuries can be especially problematic since it can take longer to identify them.

Every time I call, I speak to a lawyer. The staff is a great help, but it is nice to know that you all will talk to clients and answer questions.
