Head-On Collision Kills 1; Leaves 2 Minors Injured

Lewis & Tompkins, P.C. Team

A Maryland accident left 1 person dead and 2 minor children hospitalized. Another child was involved in the accident but was not physically injured.

Authorities who responded say that the driver of a pickup was traveling in one direction on a local road but for some reason crossed into oncoming traffic, ramming into an SUV. The driver of the pickup did not want medical treatment at the scene of the accident.

Sheriff’s deputies say that they do not suspect that alcohol or drugs were involved in this accident and have not announced any charges or citations. They are continuing to investigate this accident and have asked the public to come forward with information.

The person who died was an adult woman. While the 2 minor children were taken to a hospital in Baltimore, authorities say that they expect both children to survive the accident.

Head-on collisions may be most dangerous type

People can get into head-on collisions because of many types of careless or thoughtless behavior. For example, someone can easily draft onto the other side of the road simply by nodding off or paying attention to a cell phone or some other distraction. People who are driving under the influence may lose their judgement and responsiveness and drift over a center line.

It only takes a split second for an act of carelessness or thoughtlessness to kill another motorist or to permanently change a victim’s life. When this happens, it is only fair for the responsible party to pay compensation to the victims. Compensation can cover items like medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering.
