Pedestrian Accidents and Psychological Trauma

Lewis & Tompkins, P.C. Team

The physical consequences of a pedestrian accident can be absolutely devastating. Not only do some pedestrians lose their lives in these accidents, but many victims also struggle with a serious injury such as a broken back. Moreover, the psychological impact of an accident can be extremely difficult for victims and their loved ones to deal with as well. Psychological trauma is not uncommon after any type of traffic accident, and some pedestrians may have a very difficult time in the months and even years following the accident.

Psychological trauma may manifest in a victim’s life in numerous ways. Someone who was seriously hurt in one of these accidents may become irritable and angry. Or, they may have so much mental trauma after the accident that they can no longer go for walks (which can even have negative consequences on their physical health). Some may suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, while others may become very depressed and lose the hope they once had.

These challenges can make life even harder for someone who is already struggling to recover from an accident. They may face hardships at their place of work, or they may lose friends and experience problems in their personal relationships. It is pivotal for pedestrian accident victims to explore all of their options after an accident occurs on the road. For example, if a reckless driver caused the accident, filing a lawsuit may be the way to go. Litigation can be stressful for some pedestrian accident victims who are already facing significant challenges, but it is imperative to pursue any available resources.

Every time I call, I speak to a lawyer. The staff is a great help, but it is nice to know that you all will talk to clients and answer questions.
